Worker Dies From Injuries Suffered in Massive Shock

51 year old Jose Herrera of Orinda died yesterday from injuries he suffered when the cherry picker he was using to wash windows at an Orinda business complex struck high voltage lines. According to witnesses, Mr. Herrera was stuck on the cherry picker for close to an hour while emergency crews attempted to rescue him and a co-worker. According to news reports, the power line had 150,000 volts of electricity coursing through it at the time.

There will no doubt be an investigation into how this accident occurred. It is possible that the cherry picker was not properly set up, or that it was not properly manufactured or maintained. In any event, there is likely to be a lawsuit or insurance claim as a result of this injury and wrongful death.

My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family and friends, as well as the numerous witnesses who are no doubt scarred for having seen this horrific accident.
