Two Killed in Accident Caused By High-Speed Chase

An early morning car accident in East Oakland left two motorists dead. The accident happened at the intersection of 106th and MacArthur around 2:00 a.m. The accident happened when the driver of a BMW tried to evade California Highway Patrol officers attempting to stop the car for speeding. The impact killed the innocent driver of the SUV; the driver of the BMW was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland where he died.

Whether the CHP bears any legal responsibility is most likely dependent on whether the officers where following CHP guidelines at the time of the accident. If they were not, the family of the deceased innocent victim may have a wrongful death claim.
