Pit Bull Ban May Be Coming

Dog Attack

If you listen to the supporters of pit bulls, they are a much-maligned breed. I myself have a dog who is part pit bull, and she is a really sweet dog. They are clearly very smart, and very determined. It is easy to see why their owners are so impressed with them.

But even "sweet" dogs can be dangerous. And it is a fact that pit bulls are responsible for a number of dog attacks every year; and when a pit bull attacks, it is usually more severe than when a smaller, less powerful breed attacks. Even a single bite can lead to permanent scars.

It should come as no surprise then, that towns are considering an outright ban on pit bulls. Among them are Douglasville, Georgia which may take action soon. In 2005, San Francisco considered a ban on pit bulls. Contra Costa County is considering the same.

A single bite by a pit bull can lead to permanent disfigurement, loss of a finger or toe, or even death. The good news is that - in most cases - your claim may be covered by homeowner's insurance policies.
