Alameda County Car Accidents By City

The California Highway Patrol has put together the statistics for state-wide auto accidents for calendar year 2008. What follows is my breakdown of information for Alameda County. A few highlights:
- 88 people were killed in car accidents in Alameda County in 2008.
- 36 of these fatal car accidents were in Oakland.
- 12 of these fatal car accidents were in Fremont.
- 13 of these fatal car accidents were in unincorporated areas of Alameda County (Castro Valley, San Lorenzo)
- The number of car accidents and deaths is spread fairly evenly across the year. But October 2008 saw a slight uptick in accidents and fatalities.
- There were a total of 5,393 reported injury accidents in Alameda County in 2008.

1,593 total car accidents
In 15 of these accidents, the driver was killed.
5 passengers killed.
15 pedestrians killed.
1 bicyclist killed.
