Highway deaths are up . . .

According to a recent article in Consumer Reports, highway deaths are up, with some shocking totals:
2012 Highway Deaths
Unbelted Occupants: 12,872
Speeding: 9,944
Drunken Driving: 9,878
Distracted Driving: 3,331
That same article gives 5 tips for steering clear of dangerous drivers:
- Be ready for the unexpected
- Give other drivers plenty of space
- Consider taking a defensive drivers course
- Avoid driving in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday - the deadliest times
- Report erratic, dangerous drivers
