Two Ladies Killed in Hit and Run Collision In San Jose

A drunk driver speeding away from police in San Jose killed two women on Saturday night when the Mercedes he or she was driving slammed into a car containing Carmen Maria Zavala, 63, and Cristina DeLeon Castro, both of San Jose.
CHP officers tried to stop a drunk driver, who then sped off across the city. The CHP did not follow, hoping to avoid a high-speed pursuit. The collision between the Mercedes and a Toyota Yaris took place at the intersection of First Street and Skyport Drive in San Jose.
The driver is likely to face felony hit and run charges, as well as homicide charge.
